At the end of the General Assembly of FEJS, on Monday the 17th of November starting from 10 PM until 3 AM you are all welcome at De Rector, Stalhof, Gent for one of the wildest European parties ever. We all know that young journalists and communication people are the best party animals. And what’s even beter: it won’t cost you a dime. Nada. Nothing. Rien.

The Movie night is hosted in the Filmplateau, Paddenhoek, Gent on Monday the 17th of November at 7.30 PM. The entrance is free thanks to our collaboration with Sovoarte.

All the screened directors this evening are young Flemmish moviemakers.

Internationally celebrated moviemaker Fabio Wuytack and Liesbeth De Ceulaer were so kind to allow us to broadcast their movies for free. It will be an evening with different short movies. As Fabio’s movie “Persona non grata” got recently selected for the International Documentary Film festival Amsterdam , we are not allowed anymore to broadcast that movie. IDFA is a high-level competition. Remember “War Photographer”? It was broadcasted at the AC in Neuchatel. That movie won the IDFA. So we wish Fabio good luck with his selection.

But there is good news: FEJS members will be able to get a free copy of the documentary. Hurray for Fabio!

So instead we are showing you these movies:

• Two Hands, an 8 minute impression of the life of a Palestine heart surgeon who has to play God from time to time. This was the very first movie Fabio Wuytack made.
• To make up for the lost premiere of Persona non grata, we are getting the very very first premier of “Cittadellarte” the last documentary of Fabio Wuytack (20′). Cittadellarte is an art project in Italy that wants to use the creativity and imagination of artists to solve dilemmas on economics, politics, social groups, etc. Read more in Dutch.
• The Best act on the Isle (Liesbeth De Ceulear) tells the story of a Canadian music group who wants to conquer the world. An intriguing combination of surealism, voyeurism and animation. The movie is asking the public: can you really be yourself? Or do you, just like the main characters, want to hide from the daily world. This graduation project from Sint-Lukas Art School in Brussels, is Liesbeths first movie and it will be the first time its screened for such a large audience (32′)
• While we are road tripping, why stop? Fabio Wuytack takes us on a journey through Italy, the country he grew up as the son of a Belgian priest. “Made in Italy” is a quest for his roots, the quest for the origin of movies and simply a feel-good movie (30′)

Op 21 en 22 november vindt in Brussel de European Investigative Journalism Conference plaats. De conferentie wordt ingericht door de VVOJ (Vereniging van Onderzoeksjournalisten) en op het programma staan onder andere 3-4 plenaire lezingen, 15 pannel sessies, 15 tot 20 computersessies, een rondetafel, twee recepties en een feestelijk avondmaal. Een rijk gevuld programma dus!

Geïnteresseerden kunnen een kijkje nemen op de website, waar ze zich ook kunnen inschrijven.

Een eerste versie van het logo dat we zullen gebruiken op onze externe communicatie. We profileren ons als FEJS Belgium, vandaar de keuze voor de drie ‘landskleuren’.

Als er onder jullie nog een creatieve ziel is, andere voorstellen zijn welkom!

FEJS Belgium vzw is door het Supervisory Board van FEJS gevraagd om in November de jaarlijkse bijeenkomst te organiseren!

FEJS Belgium heeft beslist dat de 50 internationale studenten en jonge journalisten een kleine week zullen verblijven in Gent (Jeugdhotel De Draecke) waar ze ook zullen vergaderen, stemmen, lezingen bijwonen en…feesten! Op 14 November is er een volledige dag in Brussel gepland, zo kunnen de jonge Europeanen kennis maken met de Europese hoofdstad: er staat een geleide wandeling door Brussel op het programma, alsook een geleid bezoek aan het Europees Parlement.

Binnenkort starten de inschrijvingen! Als je er bij wil zijn: hou deze site en de internationale site (www.fejs.org) in de gaten!
